The professional oboe reed with ears is made with the Chiarugi -2 shaper tip. The advantage of oboe reeds with ears, is that it stabilizes the intonation. The reed has more blow back than "normal" shape reeds, but the advantage is, that the reeds last much longer! We recommend this kind of scrape for solo playing, or 1st oboe in orchestra! The reeds are made with Chiarugi 46 staple and come in Soft, Medium or Hard strengths.
