The gouged cane is gouged using Kunibert Michel gouger. The cane is then measured with a Reeds' n stuff hardness tester to determine the hardness of the piece of cane. Since the harvest of cane each year differs, we use a mixture of French cane depending on the harvest and time of the year. The same cane is used to produce our professional reeds.
